PHOTOS

Yay!

The photos are finally up! I have started printing some out, and will be ordering some for our house. We can finally be the kind of vain people who have their phtos everywhere in their own house. Yup, that's us.

People who want their photos everywhere.

first post in May

Wow...I can't believe it took me almost two weeks into the month to post!

I've been a very busy girl!

I'm buying a house, I'm planning a wedding, I'm cleaning my house, I'm crocheting, I'm grading papers, I'm planning a field trip, I'm planning a concert, I'm FINALLY hearing from my photographer for the first time!!, I'm conducting band rehearsals, I'm playing in band rehearsals, I'm playing in concerts, I'm attending bridal showers, I'm painting ceramics, I'm getting into fender-benders (don't even ask me about that one! stupid screw scratches in my bumper!), I'm getting my hair cut, I'm attending meeting after meeting after meeting, I'm babysitting (adults no less...grrr....), I'm figuring out how to arrange furniture at the reception, I'm rewiring the auditorium lights and mapping them, I'm making phone calls trying to organize all these things, I'm volunteering time to help at the snack shack at track meets, I'm attending first communion celebrations, I'm logging RSVP's for the wedding, I'm...

BUSY!!

'nuff said.

I'm also reading the blogs of people who actually take the time to blog...and I found this. I think I have students who would like to hire this guy to help them play the flute!!

Tomorrow is meetings with the Reverend and the organist. I think I am supposed to have a NVCB band rehearsal and the HS coffee house somewhere in there as well...

BUSY!!

so worn out

I need a long weekend to recover from my long weekend.

Friday was spent shopping with my sis and mom looking for a dress for my mom for the wedding. We found one - woot!

Saturday started with shopping (woot! again) with my flower girl and her mom. We found the rest of her outfit - and she looks adorable!!! :-) The rest of the day was ...

MY BRIDAL SHOWER! :-D

It was so much fun - my sister did a great job - all the way from San Diego! We made wine charms (I brought home 37!), and I won $108 in scratch tickets from playing "Stump the Bride".

I'll have to take pictures of some of the crazy cool things that I got. My aunt made me a beautiful quilt! (I know you'd appreciate that Kelly) I got my supercool-everyonewantsone-youknowyoudo pistachio green KitchenAid Mixer. I made cookies tonight in it, and I used the new stacking cooling racks I got this weekend too.

I didn't get home till after 10 on Saturday - showed the boy all the stuff we got and hit the hay.

Sunday - Easter with the future in-laws. Little Ring Bearer hunting for Easter eggs - he had to fight off the squirrels - one ran away with his egg! We hung out with family all day and caught up with all the goings-on. We didn't get home till after 10 that night either.

Then I had to start the work week - Monday all over again.

the source of eating disorders

I am convinced it would be trying on dresses at a bridal boutique. Has anyone ever noticed that the sizes there are much smaller than in regular clothing stores? I knew that going in - however, this particular bridal store was deluded in their sizing.

I was trying on bridesmaids dresses (although, is there such thing as a bridesmatron? cuz that's what I'll be come August!) for my cousin's wedding. Well, let me rephrase - I was holding dresses up to myself to imagine what they would look like on while my other cousin tried them on. I picked up what should be my size, and a size larger...didn't fit. Not even close.

When measured, I had to order a dress that was my size plus 8! We're talking 4 sizes larger than what I normally wear. And the woman didn't even apologize or have any sympathy for me. She was quite rude, actually. Not that I am planning on starving myself, or throwing up my dinner...but I can totally understand where people would be seriously perturbed by this. Seriously perturbed.

wedding projects

This is what I worked on Tuesday with my aunt. We made the ring bearer's pillow, which although it is small, it took a LOT of time! The little ribbons that are hanging down are going to be where the rings will be tied on. We'll be using fake rings (no offense, little guy!) but I don't think we should trust a 4 year old with the real ones. (although that leaves the responsibility to the best man - we might be better off with the 4 year old)

Next we tackled the tie. Ok - well Debbie mostly tackled the tie, but that's besides the point. We had to figure out how to take an adult-sized tie and cut it down to fit a 4 year old, so he won't look like he's wearing a clown tie. We needed to make sure it would fit a kid...so...
Here's my flower girl wearing it. Isn't she a cutie? :-)

Shopping!!

Things I bought today:

The pattern and fabric for sewing my ring bearer's pillow. Now all I need are two fake rings to tie on there. (no offense Jack)

The flower girl's basket, and all the stuff I need to make a small bouquet inside (except the flowers)

Yarn on sale at the Christmas Tree Shop.

Cadbury mini eggs - the kind that are chocolate with the hard candy shell - my favorite easter candy!

Cape Cod Cinnamon and Sugar Sweet Potato Chips - I haven't tried them yet, but they sound good!

Today in the mail, we got lots of fun things!

Second, our groomsmen/ring bearer gifts. They're really very nice. I can't say much more, because I don't want to give away the surprise.

Third, my name change kit. "Everything you need to go from Ms. to Mrs."

Fourth, BUBBLES! w00t. (word of the year ya know)

Just to clarify...

The wedding has not actually been called off.

It's still on, with all of the boatloads of work that goes with it.

Peter, there's no need for concern!

Not much longer would you be mine....

Instead I heard it through the Grapevine!!

After our little lip sync performance, the boy said the wedding's off.

The girls and I told him that I changed the bridesmaid's dresses to our grape costumes, which was fine with him, because he said it would anger the bridesmaids more than him.

HA!

newest newest wedding idea

Ok, so after talking to the boy, he seems to want to have childhood pictures of us instead. What do you think about that instead? Better?

Newest wedding idea

For those of you who are in my close family (and my soon to be family), we have an idea for decorations at our reception. We want to have pictures of other family member's weddings in frames around the reception hall. I have some seashell frames of different sizes. I'd like to have the parents and grandparents in larger frames. We thought it would be fun to not include the names, so that people have to guess as to whose wedding picture they are looking at.

What do you think?

The pressures of a wedding

Being a musical couple tying the knot has a lot of pressure. Everyone will be looking at our musical choices. Will they pick something obscure? Will it be traditional? It has to be good...right?

ugh...

There are a lot of choices out there people!!

This is difficult!

A new world record?

Today I went to 4 Christmas Tree Shops: Shrewsbury, Natick, Saugus, and Salem NH. I eventually found everything I needed.

I was originally just searching for more lanterns to use as centerpieces for the wedding. I picked up 4 light blue round lanterns like the ones I already have, 2 dark blue round lanterns, 1 dark blue rectangle lantern, and 6 small light blue rectangle lanterns. I was one of those people that rearranged the packages of the small lanterns to get all of one color in the package (don't tell on me!!)

At the first store I went to (Shrewsbury) I found these metal off-white shell picture frames that would be great to use for the table names and other helpful things (such as labeling the guest book and the seat cards). However, they had 5 large and 2 small ones, and a BILLION in a seafoam green, which I didn't want. I bought those 7, and drove to Natick, where I found some of the lanterns I bought.

I then went to Saugus, where I didn't buy anything. Which is a HUGE feat for me!!

Then I went to my mom's house, where I called A LOT of different stores in an attempt to find some more frames. I called Salem NH, Pembroke, Somerville, and Nashua. None of them had the frames. Then I called Portland, ME. The lady I spoke to ROCKED! Every other store gave me an attitude. She looked in her store, and then told me that the Salem, NH store had 142 in their store according to the computer. Now wait....didn't I already call there??? Didn't they say they didn't have ANY???

So I went to Salem NH. THEY HAD A TON!!! I don't know if they had 142, but it was probably pretty close. Most of them were green, but I DID walk away with 11 large frames and 1 small one, and there were still plenty of large white frames left. I want to know who's not doing their job over there....

So I was gone for 6 1/2 hours today hopping from one Christmas Tree Shop to another.

Wow.

Wedding planning update

Things we have:
Church/Reverend
Reception Hall
Caterer
Cake
Centerpieces
Bouquets
Dress/veil/shoes for me
Dresses for bridesmaids and possibly the flower girl (we'll have to see what it looks like when it ships - I ordered it online)
We are also in the process of designing our Save the Date cards - so be on the lookout for those!!

Things we don't have:
DJ (but we do have SEVERAL people looking into creating a dance band for us - we didn't ask for it, but I am NOT going to complain!!) :-)
Photographer - but we are talking to someone who is checking the date, and is going to get back to us
Invitations
Favors

What else is there? I'm not sure exactly, but it sure does seem like A LOT!!! Everytime I turn around, it seems like there are more things to do, but I also have done a lot at the same time. I am proud to report, however, that we are keeping a VERY reasonable budget on this whole thing, and are not spending a half million like on "My Big Fat Fabulous Wedding" or whatever it is called on VH1. :-)

Anyone else getting excited???

it's really happening

After my cousin's wedding this past weekend, the boy and I have realized....

holy crap...

we're getting married!!

Tomorrow we're going to talk to the cake people, and help my sister pick out her maid of honor dress at David's Bridal (the other two bridesmaids have theirs already).
This morning, we were talking about groomsmen's outfits and what we wanted to do for the bar at the reception.

It is imminent...

as my uncle said "another one bites the dust"

poor neglected blog

aww...poor blog! I have ignored you! I didn't mean it, I swear!

I have been busy (sorta)

Last Saturday was spent with the NVCB. A parade and two concerts (including the YDDB), my lips were DEAD at the end of the night!!!

Sunday the boy and I went to church at Groveland Congregational Church, where we are going to have our wedding ceremony.

Monday I worked around the apartment for a bit, then went to the last yoga class until August. :-(

Tuesday was spent around the house, where I made a REALLY yummy tuna salad. It was totally different than normal tuna salad. It's mostly rice. Try it! It's good and light for a summer dinner! (easy to make too)

Wednesday the boy and I went to Cambridge to visit Greg (who was house-sitting for an aunt) and his gf Debbie. It rained lightly off and on for most of the afternoon, but we still had fun. In between the showers we grilled up some "rollers and sliders" as John would call them. That's hotdogs and hamburgers in case you were wondering. We also got some frisbee in, until Debbie threw it over the fence....we got it back, but the rain stopped us from continuing. :-)
We played Nintendo Wii - my arm was SORE the next day!! (btw - I STINK at Wii baseball, I'm pretty good at bowling and golf) Then we played some cards, which was a lot of fun. We ended up watching the fireworks from an upstairs bedroom (all four of us were crammed around one window, it was hilarious) because it was still raining at fireworks time, and we didn't feel like getting soaked.

We spent the night in Cambridge (and BOY was my stomach sorry that morning) and we took the T back home. We came home and spent the rest of the day hanging out in the apartment, napping and watching TV.

Friday (finally caught up to today) I am still trying to clean up and organize around here. I bought a shelf (nothing special) for the kitchen so I can put some of my appliances on it so that they are more accessible. I made a kick butt pizza for dinner. I used Pillsbury pizza dough, and made a pepperoni and chicken garlic sausage pizza. We had some pepperjack cheese that I grated onto the pizza with the mozzarella. It was yummy!

I've also been crocheting a lot too. I can't post the picture of my latest creation until I give it to the person tomorrow (I don't wanna ruin the surprise). The other things I am working on I can't put on the blog either, because I am making some gifts, so I can't put them online without giving away the surprise of it. If you email me, I'll show you pics (as long as YOU'RE not the one I'm making it for!!) ;-)

Tomorrow I'm heading up to to York to see my aunt, stopping at my mom's on the way to drop off/pick up some stuff. It should be a fun day! :-)

Registries

Ok, so we have started putting stuff on wedding registries.

We have one at www.pfaltzgraff.com , where we have our dishes (the glassware will come later, I have to add those at a store, I can't do it online).

We plan to have another at Target, and at Sears. We wanted to register for some tools at Sears. What tools do you think everyone should have? We have some basics between the two of us. Any suggestions?
